PAKISTAN: A contagious love
While in a bar I noticed that an elderly lady who had just entered was asking for a cup of tea. She was very poor and the bartender refused to give it to her knowing that she wouldn’t have been able to pay. I was watching the scene and a question arose in me, “So what can I do?” I found only a few coins in my pocket but perhaps they were enough. I got an idea of how to love both that lady and the bartender. I went near him and said, “Give her a cup of tea all the same. I’ll pay for it.” Imagine my surprise when he replied, “No. I won’t let you pay. It wouldn’t be fair. I’ve understood from your generosity that it’s much easier for me as owner of this bar to offer the lady a free cup of tea.” I thought, “Even he too started to love. It was enough that I began!”
